TURA, JAN 10: A day after the Williamnagar IED blast that left nine people injured, some of the victims who were injured recalled the blast with Silvarinba D Sangma, the lone woman victim, saying that she thought she was going to die when the loud explosion took place and collapsed.

explosion was loud, and I thought it was an electric short circuit. There was huge smoke around and I collapsed.” She has sustained back injuries while trying to run for her life. The splinters from the IED explosion hit her face and she has developed scares.

“The smoke seemed very poisonous. I thought I will die but somehow managed to locate the door and escape”, Silvarinba said. She sounded very brave as she narrated the ordeal of the blast. She works as cashier at the liquor shop.

Rosel Momin, a ginger trader, who frequents Williamnagar market on Saturday, was waiting to collect payment, when the IED blast took place. He said, “I heard the sound of the explosion and turned around and something struck my face. I was standing adjacent to the shop.”

Momin’s younger brother, who is accompanied him to the hospital said, “He has never been in the hospital and wants to get discharged. He has been saying that he is all right now. He actually fears from injection”.

Momin has received injuries on his body and face. A total of five victims are undergoing treatment at Tura civil hospital. Of which Jacob Marak, who is the manager of the liquor shop, is undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The owner of the liquor shop, who accompanied Marak to the hospital said, “The doctors performed surgery last night and removed splinters from his body. He still has splinters on the face, close to the eye. The doctors are monitoring him closely. We may take him to Guwahati for his further treatment.”-From Our Correspondent
