SHILLONG, DEC 23: As part of the Christmas celebration, the India Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) on Sunday visited the less privilege children who are staying at the Ferrando Transit Shelter Home at Mawlai Mawdatbaki in the city.

ICYM president R Wahlang lauded the efforts put in by the sisters in taking care of these children whom the society has forgotten.

“The sisters here are like shepherds looking after the sheep ensuring that their welfare and rights are protected and guarded,” Wahlang said. He said that in a season like this which is filled with blessing and joy, the ICYM felt it necessary to extend warm wishes and helping hand to these children.

Stating that Chirstmas should be celebrated in a meaningful way, ICYM general secretary Michael Lawai said, “We take this opportunity to celebrate Christmas with these special children who have been left behind and rejected by their own families.”

The ICYM also handed over the donation to the authority as a financial assistance for the children’s education and other needs.

Christmas numbers were also performed by the ICYM members as a part for entertaining the children besides cutting of the Christmas cake by Duh Duh, who is one among the children staying in the shelter home. – By Our Reporter
