TURA, FEB 8: Police claimed that the main accused of Williamnagar blast on Monday surrendered at Williamnagar in East Garo hills. Following his interrogation police launched an operation and arrested two of his close associates.
Nine people were hurt in the blast in January last. The accused has been identified as Lalit N. Marak.
Lalit’s associate Jackstar M. Sangma alias Jaksrampa and Bishnu, escaped cadre of Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) were arrested in an operation today from Nokrek Bolmoram area of East Garo Hills.
The trio had attempted to place an IED along Williamnagar – Songsak route yesterday.
“Lalit revealed that the IED was place at the liquor shop in Williamnagar. His confession led to the arrest of the other two involved in the blast. He has revealed the entire modus operandi”, said GHP Raju, IG (operations).-From Our Correspondent
