Roads; Law& order

SHILLONG, SEPT 22: Meghalaya PWD minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Tuesday blamed law and order beside one of the contractors for non-completion of the  black-topping of the roads from Kyllonmatthei (National Highway) to Dorangrre.

Replying to a query by HSPDP legislator Witting Mawsor during the autumn session of the assembly as to the non-completion of the black topping of the stretch of road Dhar  responded, “Due to the law and order situation prevailing in the area, the contractor faced many difficulties and he is solely responsible for the very slow progress of the project leading to its non-completion.”

Mawsor was interested in the roads as it fall under his constituency Mawshynrut.

Dhar informed that two contractors were engaged in the construction of the roads while one of them has completed the blacktopping of the road, the other is  yet to complete the work.

Dhar assured that the contractor has been asked to complete the blacktopping by December this year even as he pointed that because of the law and order situation, the labourers could not be kept in the same place.

Dhar informed that if the contractor fails to complete the work on time penalty clause will be imposed on him as he said security cover has been provided.- By Our Reporter
