Interactive session with villagers, students organized

Shillong, Sept 21: A one day Special Interactive Programme (SIP) was organized by the office of the Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations, East Khasi Hills, Shillong in collaboration with the Office of Divisional Forest Officer, Social Forestry, East Khasi Hills on the theme “Protecting our Atmosphere for Generation to Come” at Kreit Presbyterian Secondary School, Kreit village, under Mylliem C & RD Block on September 20, 2012.

. P. Marbaniang, retired, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations, Meghalaya graced the programme as the chief guest. The programme was  attended by school students, headmen, and villagers from Kreit, Nongpathaw, Mawmih, Lawmei, and its surrounding villages.

Addressing the gathering Marbaniang said that this type of programme organized by the Information and Public Relations Department is essential in bridging the gap between the common man and the government. He also informed that the Information and Public Relations Department was a tool to educate and create awareness among the people of current affairs and convey necessary information to the populace.

B Kharsamai Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations while delivering the welcome and introductory speech informed the gathering of villagers and school students that the special interactive programme was being organized to create awareness among the villagers about various Government grants and schemes that could be benefited by the villagers.

The resource persons who participated at the SIP were Dr. W. Challam, AH & Vety. Officer, P Mukhim, Horticulture Development Officer, A Swer, Assistant Soil and Water Conservation Officer, S Syiemlieh and KS Marbaniang, Range Forest Officers, Social Forestry.

Drawing and slogan competitions on the said theme were also organised for students of the areas apart from the lively interactive session.- By Our Reporter
