SHILLONG, APR 18: Journalists in Meghalaya has decided to take out a silent march on Thursday as a mark of protest against the recent petrol bomb attack at the residence of the editor of English news daily at Umpling.

The decision was taken at an emergent meeting convened by the Shillong Press Club held in the city here on Wednesday.

SPC president David Laitphlang informed that the silent march by journalists will start from the premises of the Shillong Press Club and take the routes via Barik, Shillong Civil Hospital junction, IGP to Lachumeire.

On Tuesday night, two masked motorcycle-borne miscreants hurled the petrol bomb at the residence of Patricia Mukhim, the Editor of the Shillong Times.

Condemning the incident, the press fraternity also urged the authorities to leave no stone unturned in tracking and nabbing those responsible for this cowardly act.

Meanwhile, the Meghalaya Electronic Media Association (MEMA) also condemned a petrol bomb attack.

“No one should come under attack in this society for simply doing their job. This kind of reckless criminality will not be tolerated,” MEMA said in a statement issued here.
