Ministerial delegation assured of NE people safety by Karnataka

Shillong, August 24: A delegation deputed by Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to Bengaluru comprising of Meghalaya Information & Public Relations Minister AT Mondal, Water Resources Minister AL Hek and Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh arrived in Bangalore and immediately called upon the Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister incharge Home R Ashok at his official residence Friday.Mondal while expressing gratitude to Karnataka government  for its sincere efforts in provide security to the North East people including those from Meghalaya residing in Bangalore and throughout Karnataka, thank Ashok for his personal intervention by meeting the North East people himself and convincing them to stay and also providing them necessary security.Mondal conveyed Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma gratitude to the Karnataka government for building the confidence among the North East people and to encourage them to stay in Bangalore and also for ensuring them security.

Lyngdoh and Hek  said that Bangalore is known for being one of the safest cities to work or study in and it is safe for all age groups and they expressed hope that with active intervention of the Karnataka government in ensuring security to all the people particularly to those from the North East, Bangalore will remain safe for all.

Ashok informed the Meghalaya delegation that Karnataka police are working round the clock to ensure security to all and to see that no anti social elements creates panic among the people.

“We want to prove that Bangalore is safe, I promise the North East people. We are Indians, you are my brothers and sisters, come back no one will harm you”, assured Ashok confidently and informed that people from the North East that all security measures are in place to protect them.

The Meghalaya ministerial delegation visit is to get a firsthand knowledge of the situation in Bangalore pertaining to the mass migration of the North East people including the students, particularly those from Meghalaya, back to their home State due to perceived threats caused by some anti social elements recently.

The delegation will also meet the people and student community from Meghalaya residing in Bangalore tomorrow to instill in them the sense of security and confidence on the assurances given by the Karnataka government to ensure full security to the people from the North East in particular.

The Karnataka deputy chief minister is schedule to visit Assam and will meet Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and also the North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) leaders on the matter.By Our Reporter
