SHILLONG, SEPT 28: As many as 17 youths from Meghalaya won gold, silver and bronze medals in the just concluded National Kick-Boxing Championship 2017 held at Sonam, Punjab from September 22 to 25.

Organized by the Indian Association of Kick-Boxing Organization (IAKO) and Kick-Boxing Association of Punjab (KAP), the event was participated by 22 youths from the Meghalaya team under the banner of the All Meghalaya Kick-Boxing Association (AMKA).

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, AMKA president Samuel Hashah said that youths have done the state proud.

He said out of 22, 17 of them bagged 2 Gold medals, 4 Silver medals and 11 Bronze medals in the different categories of the Championship. These include Kerry Firstborn who won gold medal in the junior boy’s category while Damon Thawmuit won silver medal in senior men category.

Hashah further informed that the AMKA has also decided to host the upcoming Indian Open National Kick-Boxing Championship 2018 in Shillong, the capital city, to be held from December 25 to 31, next year.
