Kohli takes fresh jab at Mukul

SHILLONG, JUN 2: BJP national spokesperson and Meghalaya in-charge Nalin Kohli alleged that the chief minister Mukul Sangma of outsourcing the debate challenged by him to AICC leader Gaurav Gogoi.

“It’s amazing he has outsourced the debate challenge to Gaurav Gogoi who is also guilty of the same charge,” Kohli said in a statement issued here on Friday.

“It seems all political families of the Congress party are one happy because club protecting their own interests while their common man in Meghalaya suffers corruption, lack of governance and no development……” he added.

This came a day after the Congress national spokesperson Gaurav Gogoi dared Kohli to debate with him on “what has the BJP done for the NE region” instead of the latter debating with the chief minister.

However, the BJP leader said he had on his recent visit to the state highlighted the complete failure of the Mukul led government in providing a corruption free administration and the apparent total lack of developmental activities in the state.

“I challenged him (Mukul) to engage in a debate with me on his tenure and unfilled promises,” he said.

He further stated that he had noted with much amusement that in response to this challenge, Gaurav Gogoi, MP from Assam and spokesperson INC has dared him to engage in this challenge.

“It appears that Mukul Sangma has no courage to directly debate with me about his tenure and unfilled promises. What is even more amusing is that he has asked Gaurav Gogoi to debate on his behalf,” Kohli said.

Stating that this raises a serious question-do the people of Meghalaya not deserve a response directly from their Chief Minister instead of a Member of Parliament from Assam?, he said, “Unless Gaurav Gogoi is the remote control running the Mukul Sangma government.”

He added that his charge against Mukul Sangma is that he believes in “Apna vikas aur apne parivar ka vikas” instead of Modi ji’s Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas.
