There was general agreement during the meeting that given that the mines in Meghalaya were thinly spread and that the seams were very small there would have to be a joint effort by all stake holders to come to a resolution as to how to jointly address the environmental challenges in the mining areas of Meghalaya.

Given the customary land holding system prevailing in Meghalaya, the meeting resolved to convene a meeting of representatives of the district councils, the various associations representing the mining activity including Land Owners Associations in the state on October 17 to discuss with them the technology and solutions which has come up from the South Korean Agency.

Further, the South Korean Government Agency agreed to submit a proposal for conducting a small pilot project to the Meghalaya government for its consideration.- By Our Reporter
