KSU members arrested

SHILLONG, MAY 5: Seven Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) members were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting labourers at Mawlai Mawroh in the city recently. Out of six, one KSU member was arrested by police while the other five surrendered East Khasi hills SP M Kharkrang informed.

Their arrest came after an FIR was lodged by one Evan Sawian of Mawlai Mawroh informing that on May 1 at about 10-11 am, some local boys came in a Maruti car to her residence and assaulted her workers claiming that they are ‘foreigners’.

“Mawlai police station took up the case and during investigation it was ascertained that they were KSU members,” Kharkhrang informed.  He informed that one of the KSU member Disvalenty Pohthmi (21) of Mawlai Mawroh, Dongktieh was arrested and Maruti Car ML 05 G 9453 that used for the crime was also seized.

After his arrest,  the other five involved in the crime also surrendered at Mawlai police station, Kharkrang said. The KSU members have been identified as Pynskhemlang Myrthong, Donbok Sawkmie, Mc Donal Jaitim, Mark Thabah,  Kitboklang Warbah and Jasperlec Pakyntein. All are from Mawlai.

Kharkhrang informed that after the five KSU members surrender, they were arrested. – From Our Reporter
