SHILLONG, JAN 21: A young woman from Meghalaya was rescued by the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Delhi Unit from a brothel in Delhi where she was being trafficked and assaulted. The woman had come to Delhi seeking employment but was coerced into the flesh trade.

Marbiang Khongwir, President of KSU Delhi Unit, said the organisation received a distress call from the woman’s sister, who reported that her sister was being harassed and assaulted by a group of men. The KSU Delhi Unit alerted the police, and the woman was rescued.

“The accused was running a brothel and assaulted her when she refused to work. He even threatened to kill her,” Khongwir said.

The accused is in police custody, and the KSU Delhi Unit is working with authorities to ensure the woman’s safe return home.

The KSU Delhi Unit has urged the government to take strict action to prevent such cases.

“We urge the government to take strict action to prevent such incidents in the future,” Khongwir said, appealing to the public to be cautious and report suspicious activities.
