Lajong to host Churchill

SHILLONG, FEB 3: Shillong Lajong FC will host Churchill Brothers SC on Sunday at the JN Stadium at 4:30pm. Lajong is coming into this game after a 2-0 win over Chennai City FC on Tuesday. Aser Dipanda Dicka scored a brace in the match and gave the reds their third home win. He has taken his goal tally to five goals from six games and is also the joint top goal scorer in the league.

Shillong Lajong FC is currently in the 5th position in the I-League standings with 9 points from 6 matches played.

The last time Lajong won three consecutive home games in an I-League season was in 2013-14 – defeated Salgaocar 2-1 on 6 Dec 2013, Dempo 2-1 on 21 Dec 2013 and Bengaluru 3-0 on 23 Mar 2014.

After Lajong registered their third win in the I-League 2016-17 season, Coach Thangboi Singto said in the post-match press conference that, “Winning is good but keeping a clean sheet is even better. Credit goes to the team for working exceptionally hard and they really defended well as a team.”

“There is more scope for improvement and we need to keep on improving day by day. We have tougher matches coming up and we need to give a much better performance and keep up this winning spirit.”
