Lamare promise to set up hospitals in Nongkrem

SHILLONG, FEB 3: NPP leader and cabinet minister Dasakhiatbha Lamare on Friday filed his nomination and assured to set up better health care facilities in Nongkrem constituency if elected as its representative.

Lamare is a sitting legislator of Mawhati constituency. He told reporters that he has decided to contest from Nongkrem constituency based on the people’s request.

“I have also taken this decision as per understanding with my supporters from Mawhati. My brother-in-law Shemphang Lyngdoh is contesting from Mawhati and no doubt my supporters will extend their full support to him,” Lamare said.

When asked, the cabinet minister said, “I am 200 percent sure to win from Nongkrem and the reason behind this is because people want development. They have seen the good works I have done in Mawhati constituency and they want the same service to be extended to them too.”

Stating that there is total lack of development in Nongkrem, Lamare said one of the critical issues is the absence of better health care facilities. The constituency at present has only one PHC at Smit.

“Therefore, if people voted for me, I will ensure better health care facilities by setting up hospitals and PHCs in the different parts of the constituency,” he added.

The NPP leader further denied the allegation against the use of money power. “That is totally wrong. We only extend help to people,” he said.

He however refused to comment on the performance of the sitting MLA Lambor Malngiang and said ‘it is for the people to judge’.
