Langsning beats Samity 2-0, keeps hope alive

LangsningBANGALORE, APR 9: Langsning Football Club beat Southern Samity 2-0 in the number tweleve match of the first leg of the second division I-League being played at Bangalore football stadium on Tuesday. With this win Langsning has four points in its kitty and has got six more matches to play keeping its hope of qualifying is still alive.

In the first half Langsning kept about sixty percent of the ball but failed to score. However in the second half the team played an attacking game and fielded striker Victor Shadap in places of defender Fullmoon Mukhim.

It was in the sixty-seven minutes of the game that Langsning broke the tie when Samson Nongrum neatly headed the volley cross ball from Joel Sunday Ayeni from the left flank into the opponent box.

Langsning consolidated the 1-0 lead in the seventy-seven th minute through a self goal by Avijit Das while clearing Ashok Singh’s  ball.
Langsning now will take on its home town rival Rangdajied United in the last first leg tie scheduled for Friday.

Meanwhile, mangers of Langsning and Rangdajied have reacted strongly to a news item published in a section of press stating that both the teams have been knocked out of the game.

Secretary of Rangdajied United K.Kurbah said, “We still have to play for 18 points match and this kind of report in the press will demoralised the players.”He further added the fight is still on as second leg of the meet has not yet begun.

The All India Football Federation has released the fixture for the second leg of the second division I-League, with Rangdajied United FC taking on Bhawanipore FC in the opening match of the leg on April 15.

Following are the fixture for the Shillong football clubs:
Rangdajied plays:  Bhawanipore FC (15/04/13), Mumbai Tigers (19/04/13), Langsning FC, Southern Samity (24/04/13) and Mohammedan Sporting Club (27/04/13).

Langsning plays Mohammedan Sporting Club (16/04/13), Bhawanipore FC (18/04/13), Rangdajied United FC (22/04/13), Mumbai Tigers (24/04/13) and Southern Samity (28/04/13).- By Suraj Joshi
