SHILLONG, DEC 15: “Let us not quarrel on the basis of religion” – was a clarion call made by a top leader of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) V Bhagaiah, who was on his first visit to the state. The all India assistant general secretary of the RSS was addressing an interactive session entitled – “Know RSS”, which aimed at eliminating the wrong perception about the organization held in the city on Thursday.

Stating that God is one, he said there is no separate God for Hindus, Christians and Muslims adding all religions are great and we should not hate and criticize any religion

He however said the problem starts when people started pointing out others religions as false. He said trying to have a single way of worship cannot bring unity among the people of this great country.

Pointing out at the diversity of India, Bhagaiah said, “Unity in diversity is the culture of this country. When we respect diversity we love and when we disrespect diversity we hate.”

Maintaining that the RSS is not against any religion, he said that the reality in as far as RSS is concerned is that there is no question of hatred against any religion because it started under concept of ‘national feeling’ and ‘motherland’.

“We believe that every tribes and indigenous should be respected and protected, I am not saying this to please you but by doing this only then the country will flourish,” the RSS leader added.

Informing that over 1.50 lakh small projects are being taken up by the RSS without the government’s help and support, he said, “We have over 10,000 students while 3000 are here in the 7 states of NE the rest are in Kerala – the whole finances is not from the RSS but from the society.”

While taking few queries during the interaction session, the RSS leader said, “Conversion of religion is violence…we have to live and flourish together as there is no other solution. There is no need for conversion we can live together.”

He said Christian should be strong; Muslim should be strong, so also Hindus should be strong.
