Lyngdoh selected by IMF

wallambokSHILLONG, NOV 20: The general secretary of the Meghalaya Rock Climbing & Mountaineering Association (MRCMA) Wallambok Lyngdoh has been selected as the life member of the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF).

Out of 21 mountaineers nominated from all over the country from different organization of Armed Forces, Instructors of Mountaineering Institute and Civilian Guides, 5 were selected during the Annual General Body Meeting election held at New Delhi on November 19.

Lyngdoh has become the first person from Meghalaya State and the fourth person from North Eastern Region to be included as member in the National Body organization.

Also Lyngdoh has completed 18 National and International Expeditions to Himalayas and Karakoram Ranges with IMF and Army.

The selected mountaineers include Col.Vijay Singh (Army), Ranveer Singh Negi (Nehru Institute of Mountaineering Chief Instructor), Jagmohan Singh Rawat (Nehru Institute of Mountaineering Senior Instructor), Wallambok Lyngdoh (Mountain Guide/Route setter for sport Climbing), Dhruv Joshi (Mountain Guide)

IMF is an apex national body, with Headquarter in New Delhi. Its building was inaugurated by (Late) Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi in 1980. The main objectives are to organize, support and provides a base for expeditions for mountaineering, rock climbing, trekking at high altitudes in the Himalayas and to promote, encourage, support and execute schemes for related adventure activities and environmental protection work in the Himalayas.
