Marbaniang figures in NPP third list

Shillong, Oct 17: Former minister SL Marbaniang will be the National People’s Party’s candidate from Nongkrem constituency His  name figured in the third list released by the NPP on Wednesday along with two others.

Former Baghmara MDC Milan M Sangma will now be contesting the assembly election from the NPP which earlier late Masonsing M Sangma was supposed to contest. However after his death, the party has now allotted the ticket to Milan.

For the Gambegre constituency, the NPP has allotted the party ticket to former Forest and Environment ranger Balen A Sangma.

NPP state president WR Kharlukhi said that so far the party has release name of around thirty candidates. He, however, is not sure as to how many of the sixty assembly seats in Meghalaya the party will contest.

Speaking to www.ohmeghalaya.com Wednesday, Kharlukhi said that the party is still undecided as to how many seats it will contest. He said as talks with the United Democratic Party (UDP) for pre-poll alliance is still going on, the final decision on how many seats the party will contest will be decided only after the finalisation of the talk with the biggest regional party in the state.

Kharlukhi informed by November a clear picture will emerge as to how many seats the NPP will contest in the 2013 Assembly election. He said as the party is still holding parleys with the UDP it cannot say off hand how many candidates it will put up: By Our Reporter
