MCRTA raises issues

SHILLONG, MAR 31: The Meghalaya Retired College Teachers’ Association (MRCTA) has raised several issues concerning the retired and serving college teachers before the 5th Meghalaya State Pay Commission for its consideration.

The issues include the extension of social security benefits to the retired teachers, enhancement of retirement age as per UGC norms, extension of other Allowances (House rent, Medical, Winter and Hill Compensatory Allowance) which were taken away from the teachers earlier and Uniform implementation of revised rates of DCRG benefits from the date of implementation of revised pay scales.

The proposal was placed before the Commission by a four–member delegation of the MRCTA during a meeting held at the state guest house, Taraghar on Thursday.

“We are hopeful that the Commission will act positively and forward appropriate recommendations for the benefit of the Senior citizens who toiled hard for the cause of higher education in the State,” MRCTA president Dr MN Bhattarcharjee said in a statement issued here.
