MDA’s ILP visit to Delhi unlikely this month

SHILLONG, DEC 14: The proposed visit by the state government delegation to New Delhi for taking up the inner line permit (ILP) issue with the Centre may not happen this month, after Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma was tested positive for COVID-19 recently.

“In fact we discussed last week and the chief minister wanted to take the team this month itself (to New Delhi) but unfortunately, he was tested positive for COVID-19,” Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong told reporters on Monday.

“But now he (CM) has completed his quarantine for only 3-4 days, so it takes time for him. Then again after 10 days, he will have to be tested. Until and unless he is fit and he is declared okay and fully recovered, we can’t say anything,” he said.

Asked if he should be designated to lead the team to Delhi, Tynsong however said but weightage will not be there without the chief minister.

“If you say deputy CM can represent. For the sake of representing it is okay but for weightage, CM has to be there by himself and all of us we will go and meet the concerned ministers or department ministries whatever,” he asserted.
