Meghalaya BJP seek Centre’s intervention over ILP demand

SHILLONG, JAN 8: A five-member delegation led by BJP state president, Ernest Mawrie on Friday left for New Delhi to meet the national leaders to discuss regarding inner line permit (ILP) and other issues related to the state and the party organization.

Informing this, BJP leader and cabinet minister, AL Hek said the party delegation would meet the BJP national president JP Nadda to discuss the issue related to the demand for implementation of ILP in the state.

“They are also likely to meet union home minister Amit Shah requesting for his intervention into this issue, which has been long pending aspiration of the people of the state,” he said.

Apart from ILP, Hek said that the delegation would also discuss other issues which include the financial crunch being faced by the state and appointment of new vice chancellor of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU).

Asked, the minister said, “Actually we had planned to travel to New Delhi but the five members went ahead because they need to meet the national president to also discuss issues related to the party in the state.”

On the resolution against corruption adopted by the BJP, Hek however said, “Any party not only BJP has the right to raise any issue for the interest of the public but not at the cost of the government.”

“Anyone who has any issue with anyone should come out with proper facts and figures before accusing anyone with corruption,” he added.

To a query, Hek said that the BJP state is fully satisfied with the state government as he added “But we have to alert the government with regards to any allegations. No one can stop anybody from raising any issue especially about corruption but one should not accuse anyone without proper facts or proof.”
