Meghalaya governor meets Shah to discuss on MRSSA

SHILLONG, DEC 22: Governor, Satya Pal Malik on Tuesday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss issues concerning the state which include the Meghalaya Residents, Safety and Security (Amendment) Bill, 2020.

Sources informed that Malik has met Shah at his residence in New Delhi. However, the outcome of the meeting is yet to be known.

Earlier, Malik had assured to convince the Centre on the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security (Amendment) Bill, 2020.

He however maintained that the inner line permit (ILP) was not his agenda since the issue has to be discussed between the central and state government.

Stating that the MRSSA is doable, the governor had said, “Basically this MRSSA must be passed but I will take the opinion of the MHA, I will try to convince them that this is doable, you do it and after that lots of problems will be solved.”

“I have studied this MRSSA and after that I am sure after the app of the tourism you don’t need ILP but let me tell you don’t say that I am opposed to ILP…,” he had stated.
