Meghalaya SSLC results declared, two students share first rank

SHILLONG, JUNE 10: St Paul’s Higher Secondary School from Marbisu, a village in East Khasi Hills district and a private institution shared the top position in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination while Don Bosco College (Hr Sec School), Tura topped in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (Arts stream).

 

The results for both the examinations were announced by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) here on Friday.

 

Amebaaihunsha Kharbhih of St Paul’s Higher Secondary School, Marbisu and Arghadeep Saha from a private institution became the toppers of this year’s SSLC examination as both managed to score the same marks at 575.

 

The second position was also shared by Menangmankhraw Kharkongor of St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School and Rilaakor Lamare of Auxilium Girls’ Higher Secondary School when both scored 569 marks while Arghadeep Ghosh of Sherwood School, Tura secured the third position with 568 marks.

 

Many private institutions as well as other schools from across the state also featured in this year’s SSLC top-twenty merit list

 

Ramyank Nilabh Chakraborty of Don Bosco College (Hr Sec School), Tura also topped in the HSSLC examination when he scored 460 marks while Bahunlang Mawrie of Auxilium Girls’ Higher Secondary School and Vijay Adhikari of St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School were placed in the second and third position by scoring 450 and 436 marks respectively.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma also took to twitter to congratulate all the successful students of both the examinations.

 

“Many congratulations to the students who passed with flying colours in the SSLC and HSSLC (Arts stream) MBOSE examinations. May you soar high in the direction of your dreams and may you achieve great things in the future,” Sangma said.

 

Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui in his tweet said, “Congratulations to the Students who passed their SSLC & HSSLC Exam 2022. To the rank holders continue to work hard. Those who didn’t meet their expectations continue to aspire for success. Glad that the pass percentage is the highest in the last 5yrs.”

 

Meanwhile, the state recorded a pass percentage of 56.96 per cent in the SSLC examination, which saw a huge increase when compared to last year’s 52.91 per cent and other previous years.

 

On the other hand, the overall pass percentage in the HSSLC examination was registered at 81.17 per cent.

 

A total 32,678 of 57,371 students from 644 schools cleared the SSLC examination held in 152 centres, while 18,434 of 22,711 students from 243 schools who gave the HSSLC exams held in 104 centres were declared successful by the Board.

 

East Jaintia Hills District scored the highest pass percentage at 82.36 percent while South West Garo Hills registered the lowest at 26.45 percent in the SSLC examination.

 

In the HSSLC examination, South West Khasi Hills District recorded the highest pass percentage at 91.94 percent while South Garo Hills is the lowest with only 55.67 percent.
