SHILLONG, APR 5: Three ANVC(B) militants were arrested along with two sex workers from a hotel at Police Bazaar on Saturday by the East Khasi hills police. Â Â The city police conducted a raid at Grace Hotel and arrested three cadres of the ANVC (B) and two female sex workers from inside their room, East Khasi Hills district SP M Kharkhrang said.
The arrested militants have been identified as Apsal M Sangma alias Dokrak (26) of Dobi, Baghmara South Garo Hills District, James Momin (26) of Swadrang, Tura West Garo Hills District and Isac Marak (23) of DC Colony, Williamnagar, East Garo Hills District.
Kharkhrang said Dokrak is suspected to be involved in the twin shooting in Williamnagar town recently.
From the possession of Dokrak, Rs 76, 000 and 2 mobile phones were seized while Rs 16, 760 were seized from the other two cadres.
According to Kharkhrang, after receiving intelligence inputs that because of the ongoing operations in Garo Hills, some of the cadres of the militant outfits’ active there are taking refuge in Shillong. He said the police heightened surveillance in all hotels and lodges in Shillong.
A Maruti car located outside the hotel which was used by the criminals  with a front registration plate of  ML07-A-5331 and back registration plate as AS-01-6648 was also seized by police.
During the raid, two females were inside their room and are sex workers were also arrested. All the five persons were found inside the room with liquor bottles as they were having a party.
According to preliminary investigation, Kharkhrang said it clearly indicates that the senior cadres of the different criminal gangs in Garo Hills do come to Shillong to take refuge and indulged in various immoral activities with the extorted money.- By Our Reporter
