Militants kill five policemen in Garo Hill

MilitantShillong, November 5: Suspected Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants ambushed a police vehicle at Bangjakona near Kapasipara in the South Garo hills district and killed five policemen. The incident took place at around 11.30 am on Tuesday.

Police source said that the five policemen, which includes one havildar and four constables, were going from Baghmara, the district headquarter of South Garo hills, to West Garo hills district headquarter Tura to pick up one Under Trial Prisoner (UTP).

Those who were killed have been identified as constables Rakki CH Sangma, DFM Lekichyne Ryngklem, Havildar Dondiram Marak, constables Bipul Rabha and Manshanstar Nongdhar, the last three policemen belonged to the 3rd MLP battalion.

The suspected militants also took away  three AKs and one carbine from the policemen.

However it is unclear whether the five policemen were gunned down after the gypsy they were travelling was stopped. A police sources in the Meghalaya police headquarter said that they are still waiting for reports as to how the policemen were attacked and killed.- By Our Reporter

    Now where are those so called “HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVISTS” when policemen are the victims of such atrocities???? Are policemen not human beings as well??? Why don’t we see people thronging in Police Bazar and protest such acts of cowardice of the militants????
