SHILLONG, FEB 8: “Miss Hynniewtrep” – a first of its kind rural-centric beauty pageant- will be held at Dawki, a village in West Jaintia hills district, located along the Indo-Bangla border, on February 18.

Organized by the Bakur Social Welfare Sports Club (BSWSC), the beauty pageant will confine to entertain aspiring contestants who belongs to the Khasi community residing in the six districts of Khasi and Jaintia Hills region.

Informing this at a press conference on Wednesday, BSWSC president Daniel Khongsit said, “The objective of this beauty pageant “Miss Hynniewtrep” is to provide a platform for our youths especially from rural areas to showcase their talents.”

He said talented youths from Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills and Ri Bhoi District can come and participate in the first ever beauty pageant to be held in rural village of the state.

He said the winner of the Miss Hynniewtrep will take away cash prize worth Rs 50,000 and runners up Rs 25, 000.

Prior to the beauty pageant, Khongsit informed that the BSWSC is also organizing a dancing competition, which carries a cash prize of Rs 30, 000 on February 17,
