Silencer vehicles detained

SHILLONG, MAY 3: As many as sixty-six vehicles were detained by the Shillong Traffic Police for having modified silencers and putting on HID (High Intensity Discharge) bulbs which violates the Motor Vehicle Act.  An amount of Rs 32, 600 was collected as fine from these vehicles. East Khasi hills SP M Kharkhrang said that the police had conducted a special drives for the last four days to track such vehicles plying in the city as it views the modified silencer which emit noise pollution and those with HID bulbs on headline that blinds drivers of vehicles coming from the opposite direction as serious violation of the law.

Kharkhrang also warned that the police will continue its drive to detain such vehicles and requested the public to pass on information if they come across such vehicles to the police by taking the registration number and assured that the traffic police will take legal action against the violator.

Kharkhrang also informed that such type of information can be passed to the police control room at 0364-2222277 and leave a message in the Facebook of Shillong Traffic Police.- By Our Reporter
