MP meets HM on missionaries

SHILLONG, APR 27: National President NPP and MP Tura Conrad K Sangma today met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi.
Conrad had taken up the matter of cancellation of Visas of some Christian Missionaries some of whom have been working in India for the last 30 years.
Rajnath Singh was surprised at being informed about the cancellation of the Visa assured that he will look into the matter at the earliest.
Conrad also apprised the Home Minister about the problem many Christian organisation were facing with regards to renewal of FCRA registration.
Rajnath Singh mentioned that some officers had been removed from the Department which led to some problems and delays in the system but assured that he will look into the matter and get it resolved at the earliest.

Conrad also raised the issue of rehabilitation of the cadres of the ANVC and ANVC(B) where many aspects of the text agreement had not being fulfilled and urged the Government to look into the matter.
At the same time Conrad also stressed on the need to expedite the Amendment to the Sixth Schedule which was also part of the text agreement.
Rajnath Singh assured that agreement will be in letter and spirit and also assured that the Sixth Schedule Amendment bill will be taken up very shortly and the Cabinet was preparing the note in that aspect.
The Government may try and bring up the Sixth Schedule amendment bill in the next session of Parliament.
