SHILLONG, FEB 22: Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee, has strongly condemns the intention of the Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalitha to release the convicts responsible for the assassination of late Rajiv Gandhi.
Meghalaya PCC wonders on what logic attempts are made to release the perpetrators of such a heinous crime like the assassination of a former prime minister. It sends a wrong signal, to the extent of endorsing terrorism; and is indicative of steps to take political mileage out of a tragic incident which was a blot on the pages of history of the country, the MPCC said.
The MPCC urged appropriate authorities to stop this shameless attempt by the Tamil Nadu government to release Gandhi’s killer as it felt this will be contradictory to the hallowed principles of justice and should be strongly condemned by one and all.- By Our Reporter
