BDO abduction condemned

SHILLONG, OCT 30: Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress  (MPYC) has condemned the kidnapping of Chokpot C & RD block  BDO Jude Rangku T Sangma.

MPYC president Richard Marak  said in a statement on Friday that if local officers like Sangma, who despite the threats and difficulties, discharges his duties with diligence but is kidnapped then there will be a dearth of officers who are willing to go to the far flung government offices of Garo hills.

Marak said as Chokpot block is an underdeveloped area and if government officers trying to work for the upliftment of this area are not safe, then soon, no officer or government employee for that matter will want to go and work in Chokpot.

Marak said the MPYC urges the kidnappers to release Sangma unconditionally taking into consideration the welfare of the people of Chokpot area and Garo hills in general  the very people the outfit  claims to have taken up arms for.

Marak said, “We also would like to urge all those who have taken up arms to give them up and come to the mainstream because without peace there can be no development.”

MPYC  will organised a peace rally on October  which is the death anniversary of late prime minister Indira Gandhi and urged everyone to come and take part in the peace rally.- By Our Reporter
