SHILLONG, APR 10: National People’s Party (NPP) national chief Conrad K Sangma has termed the Congress led MUA-II government under the leadership of Mukul Sangma as one of the “useless” governments in the history of the state.

Addressing at a party meeting held at Umsong village under Jirang Constituency in Ri Bhoi Districton Saturday last, Sangma, who is also the MP from Tura said that the ineffective of the present state government has affected the people of the state.

“It is one of the most inefficient governments in the history of the state,” he said while expressing confidence that the NPP would perform well in the upcoming 2018 state elections in order to bring change in the state.

He has also lauded the leaders from the Jirang Constituency for extending full support through their hard work to further strengthening the party in the constituency and the region.

Sangma also recalled his father late Purno Agitok Sangma’s teaching on the three principles that a public representative needs to uphold which include – “God fearing, putting the people in the front and lead a corruption free live”.

Urging the people of the constituency to extend their full support to the party, the national chief assured that if the party is voted to power, he would ensure necessary development reaches the area.

He also assured full support to an aspiring candidate Wandashisha Wahlang, who has decided to contest against the sitting legislator Lamboklang Mylliem in the upcoming state elections.

Earlier in her speech, Wahlang said that she had decided to contest the 2018 elections after seeing that the constituency was left orphan as it is still lacking in all fronts especially in term of development.

She also lambasted the failures of the past and present public representatives from the region and said that the time has come for people to decide to bring a new change for the development of the region.
