Mukul slams MDA for faking inaugurations

SHILLONG, FEB 13: As a part of the election campaign, Trinamool Congress Legislature Party Leader and Leader of the Opposition Dr. Mukul Sangma held multiple meetings today including at the Dalu and Rangsakona area of West Garo Hills today.

Addressing a meeting in Dalu, Dr. Mukul Sangma cornered the NPP-led MDA government for faking inaugurations, and said, “They claimed to provide a civil subdivision, but I want to ask, was everything done hastily just to stage an inauguration? Didn’t they colour the building just two days before setting it up?”

“They even got the furniture on rent. Soon, after the inauguration, all the furniture was taken back which means that there is nothing. It is empty now. Who are they cheating?” he further questioned.

Another meeting was held in Rangsakona, where Dr. Mukul Sangma was joined by incumbent MLA Zenith Sangma along with other leaders. The Meghalaya TMC leader questioned the NPP’s abject failure in delivering their promises. “Didn’t they promise in the last election that education is their first priority? So, why are they handling the teachers badly? Despite saying that education is their first priority, they are the ones shutting down Architecture and Engineering colleges without completing it.”

“They are the ones who are shutting down schools without appointing new teachers after the retirement of primary school teachers. Is this how they show their priority for education? Hundreds of primary schools are closed in South Garo Hills, East Garo Hills, West Khasi Hills, and South-West Garo Hills,” he added.

Taking a dig at Congress for being hand-in-gloves with the BJP and NPP, Dr. Sangma said, “INC is a part of the BJP, and they are giving the tickets only after consulting with the BJP and NPP.”
