Music for underprivileged

SHILLONG, NOV 21: Parikrama, a Delhi-based rock & roll band arrived in Shillong to celebrate their 24th year of musical journey with Shillong music-lovers at an evening concert, dedicated to the underprivileged section of the society.

The concert entitled – “A Few Good Musicians – Play for a cause”, which will be held in the city very own most happening clubs – Cloud 9, will also features Rudy Wahlang and Tipriti Kharbangar of the ‘Soulmate’.

The ‘play for a ‘cause concert’ is a 15-city music tour, dedicated towards sponsoring meals for the underprivileged. Shillong is the 9th music tour by the band, which it is hopeful to complete the rest of the shows by January, next year.

The event also gives music aficionados a chance to ‘Be remembered for good’ by participating and supporting the cause, along with the “Robinhood Army”, an established NGO to working towards feeding the poor.

“We are targeting to feed around 50, 000 families through this concert,” Subir Malik, the band’s organist and spokesperson said while interacting with a few selected group of journalists, few hours before the show on Saturday.

He, however, corrected that help to such families is not by giving any financial support.

“Absolutely, there be no cash involved but yeah, what we will do with funds raised from these shows, we are going to buy groceries that will be enough to feed a four-member family for at least a month,” Malik said.-By Our Reporter
