
Shillong, Oct 18: Shillong Press Club president David Laitphlang launched the new look Maruti “Alto 800” Thursday at U Soso Tham Auditorium. The launch in Meghalaya follow the all India launch of the new look Maruti “Alto 800” Wednesday.
Laitphlang, who was the chief guest lighted the lamp along with the guest of honour, S Bokil, DGM, SBI, Shillong zonal office and other dignitaries, unveiled a beautiful sky blue LXi variant of the car as potential customers were seen checking out their new version of the Alto 800.
Laitphlang said of the 54 per cent NE market share Meghalaya accounts for 87 per cent share making Maruti a good buy. He said, “Our road conditions and size is very apt for Maruti vehicles and that is probably the primary reason for the company doing well in these parts of the countr.,” He urged dealers to also “focus on after sales as a way to connect well with car owners.”
DGM of SBI Shillong zonal office, S Bokil reminded the gathering that owning a car now is not too farfetched as finance is readily available even as he underscored that interest rates have dropped drastically paving the way for more people to purchase the car of their choice.
Present in the launch were Debjyoti Dutta and Jerome James, Maruti regional manager and manager corporate sales respectively, Metbah Lyngdoh and G Lakiang of Rani Motors and Banalari World Cars and a host of Maruti vehicle owners.
Over 10,000 Alto 800s across the country have been booked even before the launch.- By Our Reporter
