SHILLONG, JAN 19: The state BJP on Thursday alleged that there is total lack of development in West Bengal under the leadership of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC).
“They (AITC) have totally failed. No development in West Bengal,” BJP state president Ernest Mawrie told reporters.
He said due to this, the BJP is preparing to fight the West Bengal panchayat elections and is confident to win from all the seats.
Mawrie was reacting to the claim made by ATIC chairperson Mamata Banerjee during her visit to North Garo Hills that only her party can provide better governance to the people of Meghalaya.
“West Bengal is a failure in terms of law and order. it is also the most corrupted state so how can they implement this We Card and MYE Card here (in Meghalaya)? It is just a promise and lip service,” he said.
He went on to add,“If she really can provide development in West Bengal then she can give an example but we have collected information and reports, totally it is a failure as there is no development in West Bengal and law and order is deteriorating.”
Urging the people of Meghalaya to vote for a double engine government, Mawrie said, “If we have a BJP government in Meghalaya and Delhi then it will benefit the people of our state.”
“I request and I appeal to the people of Meghalaya to give us a chance. If you want development and peace, if you want our youth to have more jobs like you have seen last time, the PM has promised to provide 10 lakh jobs to the people and he has already done this. We have already distributed the appointment letters conducted by the postal department, Assam Rifles. Thousands of youth also got this opportunity to have jobs in different departments. I appeal to the youth, if you want this problem to be resolved, support and give chance to the BJP. You have given a chance to the UDP, Congress and now NPP also. I request the people to give us a chance for peace and development,” he added.
On the allegation that the BJP is trying to swallow up all regional parties in the state, Mawrie however cited an example in Assam and said, “The AGP was reduced to two MLAs but when they work with the BJP, now they are having 14 MLAs. So it is not like that.”
