‘No job promise by HM’

SHILLONG, APR 19: Meghalaya home minister Roshan Warjri on Tuesday denied having assured a delegation from Raid Nongsohbar of Ri Bhoi District with job in the Nongpoh district jail.

The statement was made following reports stating that the minister had assured that local candidates would be recruited to various posts in the Nongpoh District Jail.

“No such assurances were given by her (minister),” a government press release said on Tuesday.

It said, “During discussions with the delegation led by Dr C Lyngdoh, MLA from Umsning, it was explained that the State Employment Recruitment Policy shall have to be followed accordingly.”

The process followed for recruitment was based purely on the performance of the candidates as per set standards and strictly in accordance with the recruitment rules, the government release added.-By Our Reporter
