SHILLONG, JULY 13: Yougesh Nongrum, RBYF Nongpoh unit general secretary, has been remanded to ten days police custody by the court of the additional district magistrate for hurling petrol bomb at a truck during the RBFY sponsored two night road blockade on Friday.
Nongrum was arrested by Ri Bhoi police on Friday night from Umdihar .
Ri Bhoi SP CVS Reddy said that Nongrum is claiming that he is a village Defence party (VDP) member and was trying to control the trouble mongers from indulging in violence on Friday night.
Reddy said many RBYF members has gone into hiding fearing arrest but he said the police is determined to continue its crackdown on the absconding RBYF members.
It is also learnt that the bail of eighteen Ri Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF) members who were earlier granted bail for trespassing into a government office (MUDA) has been cancelled as they did not appeared before the Investigation Officer regularly.- By Our Reporter
