SHILLONG, AUG 31: The Deputy Commissioner Cum Chairman Nongstoin Town Committee West Khasi Hills District Nongstoin informed the general public that as per the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board certain guidelines has been circulated for the effective implementation of Idols Immersion as a religious practice in India. As a means of public information to all concerned religious Communities and Stakeholders under the jurisdiction of West Khasi Hills District, who intend to perform the religious rituals during puja season they are requested to seek permission from the concern Authority so that designated Idols Immersion spots can be identified and necessary guidelines be issued for Strict compliance as per the Government’s instructions. Random immersion of Idols in the water bodies like rivers and ponds are strictly prohibited without a proper permission from the competent authority.
