SHILLONG, FEB 28: The National Science Day 2019 with the theme ‘Science for People and People for Science’ was celebrated today at Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), a National Institute of Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India at its campus in Upper Shillong, Meghalaya.
The National Science Day is celebrated every year in India on 28 February to mark the Nobel Prize winning discovery of the Raman effect by Indian physicist Sir C V Raman on 28 February 1928.
The National Science Day 2019 this year at IBSD Meghalaya was attended by a large number of school students and teachers and the Institute was thrown open to all to expose the students to the various research programs at IBSD and to instil scientific temper among the students. The scientists and scholars of IBSD led the scientific interactions and also gave the students a tour of the R&D facilities and the on-going programs at IBSD Meghalaya.
