SHILLONG, AUG 10: In view of the Bye-Election to the 51-South Tura (ST) Assembly Constituency, the General Observer, Benudhar Behara and Expenditure Observer, S K Narayana Reddy met the representatives of political parties at DRDA Conference Hall, Tura on Thursday.

During the meeting with the representatives of different political parties, the General Observer Benudhar Behera advised them to adhere to the guidelines of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in order to ensure smooth conduct of elections to the 51-South Tura (ST) Assembly constituency.

The Expenditure Observer, S K Narayana Reddy told the representatives of political parties to inform if there is any problem with regard to the expenditure statement of their respective candidates.

The District Election Officer, West Garo Hills Tura Ram Singh also advise them to follow the guidelines of MCC and also insisted them to attend whenever they are called for monitoring of their expenditures and to submit their election expenditure statement when they are ask for. Further, he seeks cooperation of all for conducting free and fair election.

The Returning Officer to the 51-South Tura (ST) Assembly Constituency, S B Marak informed the representatives of political parties that the Supplement which was printed after the changes made during continuous updation upto the last date of making nomination would be provided to the political parties. She also informed that as part of the SVEEP activities different awareness programmes with regard to election are being organised by sector officers and also taking extra effort to make house to house visit of the differently voters in the constituency.

Meanwhile, with regard to the Law and Order cell, Additional Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills, A M Sangma appealed them to stay away from any kind of malpractices during the time of election and to continue and maintain the good reputation from the previous election.

The Superintendent of Police, Dr. Raghavendra Kumar also opines that they adhere to MCC guidelines and requested them to cooperate with the ongoing Naka checking and area domination being done in view of the upcoming election.
