Office, jeep set on fire in Jaintia hills

SHILLONG, SEPT 11: The state veterinary office located at Mawthlong village, which is about 20 kilometers away from the West Jaintia hills district headquarter Jowai, was set ablaze by miscreants hours after the night road blockade on Tuesday called by the ngos to demand for the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP).

Police said miscreants used petrol to set the office ablaze. It is learnt that the window panes of the veterinary office was first broken and then petrol were thrown inside the rooms and set the office on fire.

According to police beside extensive damage to the office window panes, important files and furniture of the office were completely burnt down.

Police are investigating into the matter and are trying to establish the identity of the culprits responsible for setting the office on fire. In another incident the official vehicle of the directorate information & public relations was set on fire by miscreants at around 11.30 pm inside the office premises at Mission Compound, Jowai.- By Our Reporter
