Opp VPP demands Govt to appoint Nongrang as new Meghalaya DGP

Opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) on Wednesday strongly urged the state government to appoint IPS officer I Nongrang as the new DGP of Meghalaya.

“The Officer is known for her professionalism, dedication and efficiency. It is not only  a pride for the people of the state to have the police Chief from amongst the indigenous community of the state but will bring better connection between the police force and the people due to her knowledge of the local conditions,” VPP spokesperson Batskhem Myrboh said in a statement.

“It would be a grave injustice to the state if the state government fails to appoint her as the new state’s DGP,” he said while stating that the Party shall petition to the government formally by tomorrow.
