Party men pillory Pala

VINCENT PALASHILLONG, MAR 1: Shillong Lok Sabha MP Vincent Pala has been accused of failing to garner support for the 5-Sutnga Saipung Congress candidate Shitlang Pale, who lost to Independent candidate Hopeful Bamon, as the Congress nominee could get only eight out of the 404 votes in Lamyrsiang village, where Pala was born.

Seven leaders of the Congress from the constituency that includes F Nongtdu, E Dkhar, M Pashiang, D  Malang, L Sukhlain, B  Myrmen and S Sutnga, in a release issued to the media said Pala is so out of sync with the people that he managed to secure only eight out of the 404 votes for Shitlang Pale in his own village of Lamyrsiang.

The seven leaders said on Friday,  “Lamyrsiang is the village where the MP was born. He, however, managed to get only eight out of the 404 votes in the village whereas independent candidate Hopeful Bamon garnered as many as 396 votes.”

Questioning the credibility of the MP to galvanize the party in the area when he could not convince his own kith and kin to vote for him, the seven Congressmen said Pale had clearly lost the confidence of the people of his own home constituency. They, however, stopped short of calling for his resignation. :-By Our Reporter
