PM says people in Meghalaya wants BJP Govt

SHILLONG, FEB 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said Meghalaya wants a BJP government.

“Everyone in the state is raising the same slogan ‘Meghalaya wants BJP government ,” Modi said while addressing a rally at Khyndailad here.

“In the support of BJP the sentiment reflected in Meghalaya and in the entire Northeast has several reasons, for long time some people have used the state as well the region for their own benefit and for dynasty politics, but now it has to go,” he said.

Earlier, Modi held a roadshow from the central library to Khyndailad. Before this, the PM also paid floral tributes to the three freedom fighters of the state – U Tirot Sing, U Kiang Nangbah and Pa Togan Sangma in Shillong.

Giving a message of development, he said, “India is gaining new heights of success and Meghalaya is making a strong contribution to it. Your love and blessing, we will repay the debt by developing Meghalaya.”

The Prime Minister also said that the people across the country are instead chanting ‘Modi tera kamal khilega’ while hitting out at the Congress members for raising the slogan ‘Modi teri kabar khudegi’.

Modi further urged the people to get rid of dynasty politics.

The PM further said that the Congress and similar parties used to loot Northeastern states and treated them as ATMs, while the BJP considers the Northeast as the growth engine of the country’s development.

He also said that the BJP’s mantra of “peace, progress and prosperity” in the state is the reason behind people’s ‘rising’ trust in the BJP, adding that the border disputes are being resolved at a rapid pace due to the NDA governments in the states.
