Police summons KSU activists

IMG_20190128_152135SHILLONG, JAN 28: The state police today summoned 10 KSU members with regards to the recent petrol bomb attack on the BJP office.

The activists appeared before the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case SI MN Sangma for questioning at the Sadar Police Station. They were also accompanied by KSU leaders and other members.

The office of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was attacked by unidentified persons on January 6.

Terming the action as “harassment”, KSU general secretary Donald V Thabah slammed and accused the police department for targeting the members of the Union without having any evidences.

“We strongly oppose such baseless action against our activists for each and every arson case that is registered,” he said while asking the authorities concerned to stop intimidating the KSU members.

Thabah said this is not the first time that the members were asked to appear before the police with regards to similar arson cases taken place in past even as he added but most of the persons who were arrested are not from the KSU.

The members were also told that since the BJP is in the ruling, the petrol bomb attack on its office has been taken as a high profile case.

Asked, the general secretary said the KSU has decided not to pay heed to such orders in the future. “The question of appearing before them does not arise when they do not have evidence,” he stated.
