Politics under the Cong regime is deteriorating: BJP

SHILLONG, SEPT 19: The BJP-West Shillong Constituency today blamed the ruling Congress led state government for the deteriorating politics in the state.

“The petrol bomb incident that was hurled at the residence of the MLA of the West Shillong Constituency indicates to what nadir the politics of our state have descended,” BJP-Shillong West Mandal Committee president Sonny Khyriem said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

He said, the Mandal Committee strongly condemns the incident and is content that no injury to life was reported adding the party also takes strong exception to such incidents of hatred, abusive behavior and slander with intensions to cause grievous injury.

“We urge upon the law and order authorities to seriously look into the matter and take necessary exemplary action and to place the truth to the public,” he said.

On the other hand, Khyriem said that the party is also taking serious exclusion to the fact that politics in Meghalaya under the present regime is deteriorating with the only intension of holding on to power either by hook or by crook.

“This is an insult to the intelligence of the populace,” he said while stating that the party will never support or take side with any political parties who’s ideology are detrimental to the values of secularism and posing threats to democracy.

As election draw nearer, Khyriem also said that party urged the people to be aware of misleading comments, insinuations and actions to whom service to the people is purely secondary and achievement of personal glory and power is primary.
