SHILLONG, JAN 17: The United Democratic Party (UDP) released the second list of candidates consisting of six names for the forthcoming elections in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) slated next month.

Announcing the list on Friday, UDP state election committee (SEC) secretary Alan Franklin Dkhar informed that the six candidates who have been given party tickets are – Balawan Syiemiong from Jirang constituency, Biolkingstar Timung from Mawhati constituency,  Donkupar Sumer from Umsning, David Kharsati, a former MDC from Sohryngkham constituency, sitting MDC Teinwell Dkhar from Shella constituency and Hedrian Lyngdoh from Mawkyrwat constituency.

So far, the UDP has released the names of twelve party candidates and is looking to filed candidates in all the 29 seats in the KHADC.

“We would soon release the final list which will be from the remaining 17 constituencies,” Dkhar informed.  He said the delay to release the names of candidates was because there were too many aspirants for the party tickets in most of the constituencies.

Dkhar said there are a lot of competition to get the party tickets in constituencies like Langrin, Laban-Mawprem, Umroi and Mawsynram and he hoped that through democratic exercises the party will resolve as to whom the tickets should be allotted at the earliest.- By Our Reporter
