SHILLONG, JUNE 28: The Additional Deputy Commissioner I/c Pynursla Civil Sub-Division, Pynursla has promulgated an Order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting any driver, person, owners from plying overloaded trucks carrying materials above the permissible limit of 9 tons plying and crossing illegally through the Dawki Bridge.
The order is issued in view of the reports received that though restrictions were imposed regarding the maximum permissible load for plying of heavy commercial vehicles over the existing Dawki bridge across river Umngot from the office of the Executive Engineer, PWD (Roads), National Highway Division, Shillong which is 9 metric tonne, there are still some overloaded trucks carrying materials beyond the permissible limit (9 tons) plying and crossing illegally through Dawki Bridge which may cause further damage to the bridge which is already overstressed.
