Public ready to fight dacoits

TURA, SEPT 3: Dacoits who have been indulging in kidnappings and extortion posted a notice in Dainadubi village  threatening to take revenge for the recent killing and  hospitalization of its two members. The notice pasted Tuesday night vowed to take  revenge for the killing of its member by Dainadubi, Nisangram and other nearby villages.

However the villagers do not feel threatened by the notice as the villagers said they are ready to take on the dacoits.

The notice was signed by the group’s leader RKM Sangma and was possibly posted late at night.

Three weeks ago, of the three dacoits, two were caught by the villager, as the third one escape in a motorcycle, when they attempted at another kidnapping. Furious residents thrashed the two  killing and seriously injuring the other.

“This is ridiculous. They are the ones indulging in killings, firing, kidnapping children and adults and extorting money from us and they are threatening us. We are ready for them”,  said one angry resident of Dainadubi.

“This same group has been responsible for the kidnapping of two minors and demanding money from their parents’. They have terrorised people of these villages and we know almost all of them, if not all. If they come again, we will be ready”, warned another resident from Nisangram.

North Garo hills SP JFK Marak confirmed the revenge notice saying, “This group has been very active in the  NH-62 area from Wageasi to Nisangram. From our inputs they are being led by a deserter of GNLA who  ran away with some arms and formed this new group to extort and kidnap.”- By Our Reporter
