Quake jolted city &NE

SHILLONG, JAN 3: After an earthquake of 6.7 magnitude hit the north east with its epicenter in Tamenglong district in Manipur killing seven persons exactly a year ago, an earthquake of moderate intensity measuring 5.7 magnitude hit the region with epicenter in Dhalai district in Tripura at around 2.39 noon on Tuesday.

The quake was felt in the entire northeastern states and adjoining districts of Bangladesh. The Central Seismological Observatory located in Shillong said the quake was of 5.7 magnitude on the richter scale. It last for six seconds.

In Shillong city, people run for cover as soon the earthquake was felt. No damages have been  reported so far.
